I don’t know if anyone who hasn’t tried to photograph hummingbirds can appreciate how hard it is. If hummingbirds weren’t so cool, I would’ve given up long ago.*
I noticed that some of the hummingbirds are pairing up (meaning, when they fly around at Mach 3 they’re flying together in playful loops, instead of territorial kamikaze beelines). I’ve also seen some carrying fluffy stuff in their beaks (nesting!)… it’s so exciting.
*I realized I needed to amend this– if hummingbirds were as flighty and nervous as chickadees, the task would be that much harder. Fortunately, the ones I’ve dealt with don’t care if you walk right up to the feeder, as long as you move slowly.
