I love the 20×200 Project– I’ve gotten some great art, cheaply, that way. Today a couple prints by Todd Forsgren went up for sale, and they might be some of the best photos I’ve seen there yet– but I can’t buy them. They are too intense to go on my wall.
From the artist’s [...]
From Nature Biotechnology 26, 721 (2008) News:
UK passes hybrids
Nuala Moran
The UK Parliament has voted to allow the generation of human-animal hybrid embryos, creating the most liberal legal framework anywhere in the world for embryonic stem cell research. The move confirms that the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority acted within its jurisdiction when it gave permission [...]
I shot a wedding this past weekend, and it was one of those wonderful LEARNING EXPERIENCES.
I was there as a guest, and a photographer, so I had to put on my imaginary photographer hat when I got there, reduce the urge to chat with all my friends, and take pictures. In my urge to [...]
This is a strange day.
I woke up early(ish) and decided to go eat a real breakfast at a local cafe, since I am incapable of making one for myself. (Conclusion drawn from extensive past data.) I had a small pile of home fries, two eggs over-medium, an english muffin, a small glass of [...]
Death…
It is so complicated– I could write pages about it. In those pages I would mention how relatively little death has touched me, which is primarily a side effect of not being close to many people, including my family… But it’s also a side effect of living in an upper-middle class urban area, relatively [...]
I just wanted to make the announcement that I’ve got a photography show up at Wink Hair Studio on Queen Anne hill in Seattle. My show went up at the beginning of July and should be up through mid-August. Please check it out if you’re in the area!
Here’s the bio I have framed [...]
Oh man. I just upgraded Wordpress from a freaking legacy 2.0.x version (I forget which) to the current stable version, 2.6. I also upgraded my theme, veryplaintxt. This activity just about gave me a heart attack. But it’s all good. Everything’s okay now. It went fine.
I imagine in a [...]
I discovered that if I set my point and shoot camera to the macro mode and point it far away, trees get these amazing shifting bokeh patterns. I’ve been taking lots of video of … trees blowing in the wind. Really exciting.
No, it actually is exciting to me, and I don’t know why. I suppose [...]
A few days ago I finished reading Whitley Strieber’s latest book, “2012″, which I picked up in the drug store because it just came out in trade paperback. Strieber’s the guy that wrote “Communion” back in the late 80s, the cover of which gave me alien nightmares for years. (Or maybe that was [...]
Richard took this photograph of me at a 4th of July party. I’m doing my impression of an old crotchety man. (I have a cane because I sprained my ankle recently.)
For some reason, I love this photo… it’s one of those photos that I fantasize about putting on an artist’s statement, because I think, “This [...]
