I’ve been feeling terribly confused about my artistic future this past year. I could go on about that for pages, but will save it for another time.
I recently found an old, tiny sketchbook, and inside were a few sketches that I made around September 2005. This was about three months after I graduated from the UW Extension certificate program in scientific illustration. (Incidentally, I noticed they renamed it to “natural science illustration”, which I think is more appropriate…)
A lot of Life has happened to me in the time since I graduated from that program, but I’ve kept my artistic goals in mind the whole time, and tried to work on improving my skills. I finally feel like my learning curve is ramping up, which is exciting.
Here is a little relic from that old sketchbook– bits of the alder that grows outside my front door.
